Assembly Bill 2774 became law on January 1, 2011. California employers are now subject to stricter guidelines from Cal/OSHA and increased citations and fines for “Serious” violations.
Attorney Kevin D. Bland will be speaking at the next meeting of the ASSE’s Orange County Chapter, on March 16. The topic of his presentation will be AB 2774 and Bland will also deliver an update on Cal/OSHA regulations.
The meeting will be at 11:30 am, at the Green Parrot Villa, located at 2035 N. Main St., in Santa Ana, across from the Bowers Museum.
AB 2774 has changed the definition of what’s considered a serious workplace violation — and raised the monetary penalty for serious citations to up to $25,000 per violation. Additionally, the bill changes how a serious violation is investigated and the appeals process for Cal/OSHA citations, according to the Insurance Journal. Continue reading
