JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT HOSTING BLOOD DRIVE

SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport (JWA) will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on January 26, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked on the Lower (arrival) Level at the red curb outside of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal Administrative Offices, 18601 Airport Way, Santa Ana. Donors may sign up in advance at www.givelife.org. Walk-ins are also welcome on the day of the drive.

“Donating blood is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who are in need. We hope that all passengers and airport employees will consider participating,” said Airport Director Alan Murphy.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Donated blood is used for emergencies, people with cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell anemia and other illnesses as well as for people who need regular blood transfusions to live. Despite the overwhelming need, only five percent of the eligible U.S. population donates blood in any given year. There is currently no substitute for the blood of healthy donors. One donation can help save up to three lives.
