The American Red Cross of Orange County is proud to present the 27th Annual Disaster Preparedness Academy on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the Anaheim Convention Center.
They will also be offering Pre-Academy sessions consisting of two workshops at the Red Cross on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 that will provide fun, hands-on training in disaster scenarios with specific training in Triage and Search and Rescue.

Matthew R. Bettenhausen
Vice President of Security and Homeland Security Director, AEG Worldwide
General Session Keynote Speaker
Matthew R. Bettenhausen is the Vice President of Security and Homeland Security Director for AEG Worldwide. AEG is one of the leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world owning/managing over 120 sports and entertainment venues such as STAPLES Center and the LA Live entertainment district in Los Angeles and the O2 arena and entertainment district in London. Matt has overall responsibility for security, public safety and preparedness for AEG’s domestic and global operations and facilities.
Previously, Matt was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to lead California’s homeland security and emergency management operations as the Secretary of the California Emergency Management Agency. Matt was a member of the Governor’s cabinet for nearly six years and served as the Chairman of the California Emergency Council. Prior to his appointment in California, Matt served as the first Director of State and Territorial Coordination with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), where he was the Department’s representative to the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs.
Donna Boston

Donna Boston is the Orange County Emergency Manager. Donna’s career in Emergency Management spans 15 years. She has worked with the Cities of Laguna Niguel and Newport Beach and currently works with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Management Bureau. Her career experience includes managing municipal Emergency Management Plans, responding to fire incidents as an on-scene Public Information Officer, managing public relations programs, managing City and County Emergency Operations Centers, directing emergency exercises, managing grants, coordinating community training programs, presenting training programs, and acting as the Orange County Emergency Operations Center Manager during emergency events. In her current position, Donna is charged with managing Orange County’s Emergency Management Program, including County preparedness, response and recovery. Donna is also a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Management.
Scott Brown
Battalion Chief, Orange County Fire Authority
Luncheon Keynote Speaker
Battalion Chief Brown has been with the Orange County Fire Authority for over 30 years. He currently manages the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Division, directing the administrative and operational aspects of the EMS program. Chief Brown previously served as a firefighter, firefighter/ paramedic and fire captain assigned to a wide variety of assignments in field operations before his appointment to Battalion Chief in August 1999. He was assigned to Corporate Communications, working directly for the Fire Chief, managing all media and community relations for the Fire Authority. Returning to field operations, he was assigned to Battalion 7 where he was responsible for the daily management and operations of nine fire stations. Chief Brown has been instrumental in the development of community coalitions to enhance community participation on a wide variety of preparedness activities, including a partnership with the City of Mission Viejo, establishing the Community Emergency Preparedness Academy, an effort that places emphasis on individual emergency preparedness.
